LINCOLN – Governor Pete Ricketts is scheduled to lead the annual Governor’s Walk at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 3 at the State Capitol. The Walk begins with a brief news conference in the Governor’s Hearing Room at 10 a.m. in which the Governor and other wellness leaders will encourage Nebraskans to adopt healthy-lifestyle habits, especially daily physical activity, in the new year.
During the conference, Gov. Ricketts will give pointers as to how he and his family are able to stay active and CMO/Director of Public Health for the Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services Dr. Gary Anthone will share evidence of the positive impact of daily physical activity on overall wellbeing and long-term health.
Nebraska Sports Council Executive Director Dave Mlnarik will also be on hand to encourage Nebraskans to participate in the Nebraska Sports Council’s free web-based WellPower Movement to stay motivated.
Following the conference, Governor Ricketts will lead the group on a 20-minute walk through the second-floor hallways to demonstrate one simple way Nebraskans can add physical activity to their daily routine.
